In March 2006, we visited Sea World in San Diego during one of our trips down to the UCSD campus. The highlight of Sea World was seeing the killer whale Shamu and watching his amazing performance.
The whales were able to perform some spectacular tricks, leaps, and flips. On command they would also swim to the edge of the pool and use their tails to splash the audience. Boy can those animals move some water - people got soaked!
There was a similar show featuring dolphins jumping out of the water and performing various stunts. They really are very graceful animals.
Of course the dolphins also performed the trick of splashing the audience. Since we were sitting near the front we got quite wet!
In addition to the whales and dolphins there were many other marine animals incluidng manatees, rays, sharks, and of course seals!
